Published bi-weekly, it provides listings of forthcoming gigs and clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow. This information is also freely available on their website. In its broadest sense, Variant aims to look at the function of art and ideas in contemporary society. White NoiseWhite Noise was started in the late 90's as a result of my interest in obscure and fringe musics. Frustrated by missing important gigs and by the lack of a consistent online resource for Scottish events, White Noise was started to address the gap. The site was reasonably successful but it eventually closed as a result of maintenance problems. The WireThe Wire is an independent, monthly music magazine dedicated to informed, intelligent coverage of a wide range of progressive, adventurous and non-mainstream musics.
